if you see where you want to go,
and you read the currents right,
if you figure out how to paddle,
and your boat doesn’t spring a leak,
if a fog doesn’t roll in,
and you don’t run out of food,
if no one steals your oars,
and a vortex doesn’t open up beneath you,
if the currents don’t change,
and what you saw wasn’t a mirage,
then if you persist,
given time, you’ll get there.
